    • Bill Condon

Bill Condon was born in 1949 and lives with his wife Dianne (Di) Bates, on the south coast of Sydney. He left school at the first chance he got – some nasty rumours have it that he was driven out at the point of a gun by a tormented principal - and worked in an assortment of labouring jobs.

By sheer good luck, when he was in his thirties he managed to jump from factory worker to a career as a journalist on a suburban newspaper. Throughout his decade on the paper Bill also wrote plays, poetry and stories for children. About twenty years ago he left journalism to devote himself to creative writing.

When not writing, Bill plays tennis, golf, pool, and Scrabble, but hardly ever at the same time. His dream is to one day be called upon to replace an injured player at Wimbledon.  Unfortunately, to date his efforts to trip over players at the change of ends have not been successful.
In 2010 Bill was the winner of the inaugural Prime Minister's Literary Award for Young Adult Fiction for his book Confessions of a Liar, Thief and Failed Sex God.
