  • Nominations are now open for the Australian Student Leader of the Year Award for 2010. ASLA is looking for current tertiary students who display exceptional qualities as a leader, on or off campus. The winning nomination will be selected based on demonstration of the 2010 conference themes: Lead, Empower, Aspire, Defy

    To nominate yourself or another student please submit in 500 words or less:

     1. Name, age, email and phone number

     2. University, degree and year of study

     3. The nominee’s leadership experience and how it demonstrates our 4 leadership themes

    Prize presentations will take place at the Conference Gala Dinner on Saturday 25th September. The winner will be contacted 2 weeks prior to the event and will receive free entry to the entire conference and dinner.


    Note: If the winner has already paid for the conference and gala dinner they will be reimbursed this money.


  • Shannon Nott

    In 2007 Shannon Nott created the Rural Appreciation Weekend (RAW) held at his family property in Dunedoo which has now become an annual event. It aims to break down the barriers to students and health professionals pursuing a rural health career by giving them a taste of rural life. Activities include camping, a stockmanship challenges, cultural awareness workshops and talks by rural health professionals. The weekend attracts over 130 students annually from at least 10 universities across Australia.

    Shannon was also a co-chair of the National Rural Health Students’ Network (NRHSN) in 2008 and in 2009 was the National Rural and Indigenous Officer of the Australian Medical Students’ Association.
